Language

weBiller ships in English, Français, and Nederlands — across the web app, the mobile apps, the client portal, emails, and the invoice PDF.

There are two language settings, and they answer different questions:

What it setsWho it’s forWhere it lives
App languageThe buttons, menus, and labels you seeYouTop bar, or Settings → Language
Document languageInvoices, quotes, reminders, and emails your clients receiveYour clientsSettings → Document language

They’re separate on purpose. A Dutch freelancer can invoice a French client in French while keeping the app in Dutch.

App language

The language menu in the top bar listing English, Français, and Nederlands with a check on the active one.
The language switcher in the top bar.

Choose the globe / Languages icon in the top bar, or open Settings → Language. Languages are listed in their own name — Français, not French.

  • The change applies immediately, without a reload.
  • It’s saved to your account, so your other devices pick it up too.
  • It’s per user. Changing it doesn’t affect teammates in the same business, and doesn’t change anything your clients see.
  • Dates, numbers, and currency amounts reformat to match (€1.234,56 in Dutch, 1 234,56 € in French).
💡

You can switch language on the public website and the sign-in screens too, before you have an account. The choice carries into your session when you sign in.

Document language

This is the language your client reads. It applies to the invoice and quote PDF, the client portal page, and the reminder and notification emails weBiller sends on your behalf.

You can set it at three levels, and the most specific one wins:

Business default

Settings → Document language. Every client and document falls back to this. Set it to whatever most of your clients read.

Per client

On the client form, Language. Leave it on Use the business default and that client moves whenever you change the business default. Pick a language and it’s pinned for everything they receive.

Per document

On the invoice or quote form, Language. Leave it on Follow the client’s language for the normal case, or override it for a one-off.

So the resolution order is:

invoice or quote → client → business default → English

The language is frozen when you send

A document’s language is decided once, when the document is created, and stored on it. Changing a client’s language later doesn’t rewrite invoices you’ve already sent — last year’s invoice still re-renders exactly as your client received it.

⚠️

Set the document language before you send. Once a document has gone out, the field is locked: your client already has a copy in the old language.

What’s not translated

Things you typed stay exactly as you typed them — client names, item descriptions, notes, payment terms, and your “how to pay” instructions. weBiller translates its own labels (Invoice, Bill to, Subtotal, Total due), not your content.

The public website

The marketing pages are translated and have their own addresses, so a French page can be shared and found as a French page:

  • English — webiller.com/pricing
  • Français — webiller.com/fr/pricing
  • Nederlands — webiller.com/nl/pricing

Switching language from the public header takes you to the same page in the new language.

This guide, along with the privacy policy and terms, is English-only for now.
